Here are the next five favorite articles from the blogroll:

1.  Randy wrote about the financial bailout over at Watch My Moneymaker.  I liked his tea kettle-hull analogy.

2. JW and his DW are both taking on second jobs!  I can see that this economy is definitely not treating us well!

3. Well-Heeled is writing about less spending as a side effect of decluttering.  I know this is true….but coming up with time for decluttering is a mystery to me!

4. Wenchypoo talked about gas shortages.  It’s been bad here in North Carolina, but I haven’t had any problems personally yet.

5.  Andrea Dickson wrote a hilarious article about advertising on Facebook.  I get the opposite end of the spectrum - nonstop “mom” advertising.  It’s funny.

Wednesday Linkings - September 24, 2008

24th September 2008

Here are the next 5 blogs from the blogroll:

Thicken My Wallet has a hilarious article about having to interview someone and the comments are amazing.  I’ve interviewed people and been interviewed, and I must say, I haven’t had a reaction like this!

Tight Fisted Miser has an awesome discussion on the site after someone had a $700 budget per month that was posted about.  I think I could get on with $700 if I didn’t have rent pretty easily.

Tired But Happy has a great article about what not to do for this current economic shift.  I’ve resigned myself not to say the “R” word - you know, starts with r and rhymes with…recession?

Two Pennies Earned had an awesome article about some things that you can do to reduce the costs of home ownership.  Personally, I think these tips apply to renters paying utilities as well, but whatever!

Uncommon Cents had an awesome article about Craigslist.  I heart Craigslist, so this was a great update for me.  What do you purchase off Craigslist?

Wednesday Linkings - 20 August 2008

20th August 2008

Here are the links from the blogroll for the week:

Jesse talked about people’s excuses for their debt.  I run into this all the time.  It gives me a headache.  Just realize that your consumer debt is your own fault.  Please.

Laura has a hilarious video about consumers and advertisers.  I think that we are wising up as our wallets are getting skinnier.  Thank goodness - it had to come sometime!

Boomie talked about our new frugal economy at the Wastrel Show.  I’m glad we’re changing for the better.

The writers talked about continuing to contribute to your retirement account while you’re in a bad economy.  I can’t wait to pay off my house and start fully contributing to my retirement account.

Meg talked about her tenant problems.  I am so glad that I don’t have these headaches.

Linkings - 13 August 2008

13th August 2008

Here are the next 5 blogs from the illustrious blogroll here at Dollar Frugal:

Sharon wrote about her old paper bag and how they gave her the refund anyway.  I’m very guilty of this same practice (using things until they fall apart while others laugh at me).

Green 3 wrote about two of her anniversaries.  Congrats to Green 3!

DD at Happy Rock talked about financial simplicity.  This practice makes things so much less stressful!

Annie at In Debt Net blogged about women and their loss of realness.  I think this is so true.  Many of us don’t know what our real personality is when we can buy any personality and try it on for awhile.

The Moneykings talked about drug ads.  Are Americans stupid or do we really not see how many problems we have?

Wednesday Linkings - 6 August 08

6th August 2008

Sorry for being “out” for the last couple weeks.  Without further adieu, here’s the links for the week from the blogroll:

SVB talked about lost money at Digerati Life.  I hate even thinking about this type of thoughts, because I become obsessive, but it’s good to be aware…

Dough Roller talked about HUD homes.  I had no idea we could find free info about these homes without even visiting a government office.  A very good resource.

Financial Blogger talked about bond ladders.  A CD ladder could be built in the same manner.

Andy wrote about his Maya coming back from Singapore.  Great stories.

Frugal Dad wrote about making our income more passive.  There are some good ideas here.

Wednesday Roundup - 16 July

16th July 2008

Happy Wednesday!  Here are the next 5 blogs in the blogroll:

The Baglady’s dad writes the latest segment about his first years in the U.S.  We can learn so much about frugality from immigrants.

Tim Ferriss wrote the Margin Manifesto.  Great ideas here about how to increase your “abilities.”

Budget Babe has some great news over at her blog.  I’m so proud of her for becoming a vice president at her company.  That is quite a feat!

Emily wrote about some tips to increase your productivity.  I sincerely believe in the sleep one.  With no sleep, I turn into a horrible person.

Grant wrote about true costs of increased gas prices.  What’s your tipping point to stop driving your own car and carpool or look for alternative methods?

Wednesday Roundup - 9 July 2008

9th July 2008

It has been a crazy week.  Here are the links for your reading pleasure:

Here are the next five blogs from the insane fiscal blogroll:

Debtfretter at So Sick of Debt is teetering on the edge of paying off her last debt.  What a great feeling of freedom!

Cap at Stop Buying Crap wrote about 5 things she’ll never buy for her kids.  Ditto, especially the mini-McMansion.

Walter at Sugar Mountain Farm has an awesome photo of his boar bathing in peanut butter.  I know it’s hard work, but Walter’s family has such a cool lifestyle!

Swim Upstream to Wealth had an article about his garage sale not doing well.  I’m pretty sure that Americans just don’t want to spend any money, whether it be at garage sales or at the mall.  Check out my thoughts on garage sales.

Cindy at Amateur Tightwad had an awesome article awhile back about Laura Ingalls Wilder.  Little House in the Big Woods is still a favorite in my collection.

Wednesday Roundup - 2 July 2008

2nd July 2008

Happy Wednesday!  It’s time for another roundup from my illustrious blogroll:

Single Ma wrote about creeping gas prices and craziness at Fabulous Financials.  I know I’ve been looking everywhere for some relief from these prices.  They make me nervous.

Skellie wrote the pocket-sized guide to blogging over at Skelliewag.  There are several great tips there that I should take to heart.

Slickdeals has a great deal - buy anything from The Body Shop and get a $10 gift certificate.  I have to be careful not to look to much at it, or I’ll get sucked in.

Smart Money Daily talked about how rich people spend their time.  I think this is valid; the harder I work, the more money I save - simply because I don’t have time to spend it!!!

J.D. Roth guest-posted over at Smart Spending about the invasion of stuff.  I agree this is hard - I have a hard time getting rid of my work gear especially.

Wealth, Money Life Network Posts

DIV-Net @ Dividends for Life.  D4L has, together with some other blogs, founded a new Dividends Network.

The Economy is in the Pooper @ Her Every Cent Counts.  HECC has noticed some big problems with the economy.  I think everyone else is noticing too!

Complaining About Gas Prices @ How I Save Money.  Lulu is wondering whether others are sick of hearing about how bad the economy and gas prices are.

Starting with the Prosper Borrower’s Credit Score @ Just Personal Finance.  Mark seems to have been out for a bit; I’ll check up on him.

Wednesday Round-Up - 25 June

25th June 2008

As usual, here are the next 5 blogs from the blogroll:

Sharing My Two Cents had an article about being paid for product testing.  This could be an easy way to snowflake your way to payoff!

Shoemoney has an interesting article about a spammer losing a ton of money to Myspace.  The video is really funny.

Simplicity in Kansas wrote about some more ways to save.  I really need to try riding my bike once more.  Or maybe just build up to the 28 miles per day.

Deborah Ng at Simply Thrifty wrote about singing for ice cream.  I like kids to be involved in saving money - I would have given my son the difference if he saved me money.

Singly Guy Money has an excellent article about the urge to splurge.  It’s important to reach our goals, but we must find non-monetary ways to reward ourselves.  Also, lowering our standards makes it easier to make us happy (my words, not his).  It sounds kinda sad though!

Wealth, Money and Life Network Posts

Can You Walk Away From It @ D4L.  Becoming obsessed with anything is not good.  Finding ways to get around being obsessed with these “things” will help us to lead a more productive life.

Back From Israel @ HECC.  SFGal had a wonderful time in the Holy Land, at least that’s what it seems like.  I can’t wait to hear some good stories.  We missed her a ton as a network and we’re glad to have her back.

Toilet Paper Talks @ How I Save Money.  I love breeching this topic, since it confuses me when I go to the grocery store.  They make it nearly impossible to compare two different types of TP with the different sizes and qualities.

Starting With Fixed Budget Items @ Just Personal Finance.  Everyone’s budget has fixed items that can probably be budgeted for first.  Then, we have items that we can squeeze even more on.

How to Start Multiple Businesses @ Living Off Dividends.  If we find out how to start multiple businesses, our experience can help all the different facets of our income.  Some people work better doing 5 things at 80% than doing one thing at 100%!

Wednesday Roundup - 18 June

18th June 2008

Today is time again for the blogroll Faves:

Minerva has yet again moved to a new Caribbean country.  This blog fascinates me, as I would love to retire or even semi-retire to a Caribbean country - probably Honduras, as that’s where DH is from.

Syd wrote about two very different days during retirement.  I’m not really sure I wouldn’t drink wine while mopping my floor, but I certainly would still do my own housework.

Over at Save and Conquer, there is an article about the fact that school buses are going away.  In North Carolina, that doesn’t seem to be the case.  We live about 3 blocks from the school, so I see them constantly.  However, DS doesn’t walk as more kids do now, since we live on a 55mph road.  He totally could, if the school system asked him to.

SavingFreak has an excellent article with reader tips and money hacks.  Check it out for some very practical ideas - I’m definitely going to use the honey-root hormone idea.

S. Shugars over at Saving Advice has an article about house-sitting in exchange for rent.  This is an excellent idea - one that I might just have to think about since I have friends that live all over the world and are constantly also on business trips.  Myspace bulletins might be a good idea to facilitate this so that I can poll my friends to see who will be out of town in places where I want to visit.  This is also a great idea for me, since I have a child that’s old enough that he won’t destroy someone else’s house.

Wealth, Money and Life Network Posts

The Will to Win @ D4L.  This article made me reflect quite a bit.  A good read.

People My Age Are Stupid @ HECC.  She’s on vacation right now, but this is a favorite topic for me.

Baz Over Budget @ How I Save Money.  Lulu says we need a budget, but I’m not so easily convinced.  Watch for me to write about how I survive without a budget here.

Emergency Fund @ Just Personal Finance.  Mark is doing an excellent job by automating his emergency fund contributions.

Time to Go Long the Dollar? @ Living Off Dividends.  I’d be willing to argue that there are other signs that the economy is starting to look up - or maybe it’s just wishful thinking on my part.  All the negative media definitely doesn’t help.

I Love My Local Farmer’s Market @ Saving For Home.  I wish I lived within walking distance of our local farmer’s market.  It looks so appealing.
