Didn’t Save $80 on Insurance
8th May 2008
I thought I was going to get a good deal on my car insurance, but the deal flopped. The insurance salesman would have saved me $80 on insurance, but I would have had to pay $80 extra for my homeowners’ thru his company. It was a wash.
This brings up an important point - at least I tried. Everytime you see an opportunity to save money, look into it. Research it first (buyer beware), but always look into it at least. Not worth your time? I don’t think so. Pretty much everyone here on Earth works for money, so I’d say that money is worth your time.
What is your philosophy? Do you try each and every deal? What deals have you missed out on because you didn’t research them?

[…] Dollar Frugal shows us how she Did Not Save $80 On Insurance . This reminds me of the time I ended up Switching To Geico to save money on my car insurance . It sounded a bit cliche but I tried them and really did get a better deal, but I almost missed out on it because I thought Geico was just a gimmick. […]

I typically try for each good deal that comes down the pipe, but I don’t go too nuts with insurance quotes because most companies do a hard pull for your credit before giving you their real quote. Other than that, it never hurts.

I would like to try for every deal out there, but sometimes I’m too darned impatient. For example I decided recently to leave Blogger and be hosted by Blue Host. I signed up for a year, costing about $100. Then I signed up for ads, and was approved to run ads for Blue Host, and their referral program pays $90 for each new referal through my link… including mine! I could have effectively hada year’s hosting for free! Grr.
