Groundhog Day Resolutions - An Overdue Update

6th March 2008

I just looked at the calendar and it’s already March 5th, so I guess I’m due for my update to my resolutions for the year.  I update my resolutions each month on 1/1, 2/2, 3/3 (or rather, 3/5 this month!) and so on.

Here are the original resolutions:

1.  Pay off 42,000 of my mortgage.  I don’t have any other debt (beyond monthly utilities and food costs), so this is my only debt payoff.

2.  Contribute $4,000 to DH’s IRA.

3.  Pay for DH to return to school.

4.  Cut sugar out of my diet.  I’m sure you PF readers don’t really care about this one, but I put it down anyway!

Here are my grades for myself:

1.  Good to Go.  A+++++.  I made a $6200 payment last month.  I’m not sure where the money came from (a couple really high travel vouchers and some old savings that had been lingering for a bit), but it was there!

2.  333.33 automatically deposited.  A+.

3.  Done.  A+++.  Plus, paperwork for his grants (he has already been approved, we just need to fill out the requisite paperwork) will be turned in as soon as I get to return home from this trip.  Who knows when that will happen.  But that will result in a net savings of about $600 each semester.  Yay!

4. Failed miserably.  I’m back in the saddle now with the fruit for breakfast this morning, but we’ll see about the rest of this trip.  I already bought some guava paste (mostly sugar) for some snacks I’m planning on making if we ever got a day off to drink some beers.

How are your resolutions going for the year?  I can’t believe it’s already March.  This year is really flying.
